Yahoo! and Google were among the companies singing the praises of online video at this month's Reuters Global Media summit in New York and London.
Yahoo and Google both said that sites with video content will be central to their advertising plans in the next few years.
Representatives for Google explained that the marketing industry is becoming more sophisticated at targeting consumers interactively through the use of online video.
Google has been tapping into the power of interactive website video since 2006, when the search giant bought the video-sharing site YouTube for more than one-and-a-half billion dollars.
