Google is sending a team of 12 web experts to Wales in March, to help Welsh companies learn about the benefits they could reap from an online presence.
Welsh Assembly Government figures have shown that up to 40 per cent of small businesses in Wales do not have a website. Google has joined with the Welsh government for a year-long campaign that will highlight how businesses can set up websites and what they can do in terms of search engine optimisation.
The team from Google will spend a month in the country, offering one-to-one advice to small and medium-sized business owners on improving their online presence. A travelling ‘Juice Bar’ roadshow will offer “digital health checks” to businesses, providing workshops tutorials and advice.
Laurian Clemence, of Google, said, “You are really missing out if you can’t be found online.
“We do believe that there are definitely more benefits than not. The key thing is that people who have their business online see their business grow four to eight times faster than those that don’t.”
The first event is being held at The Coal Exchange, Cardiff, on 6 March from 16:00 - 19:00 GMT.
